Founded by John Hirsch and Tom Hendry in 1958, the Manitoba Theatre Centre was Canada’s first English-speaking regional theatre and now presents 10 shows each season at its two theatres - the John Hirsch Theatre at the MTC Mainstage and the Tom Hendry Theatre at the MTC Warehouse.
The John Hirsch Theatre at the MTC Mainstage is the quintessential regional theatre, staging six dazzling productions each season including rousing dramas, hit Broadway musicals and heartwarming comedies. At the Tom Hendry Theatre, four cutting-edge plays rock the intimate, 286-seat house. MTC also produces the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival, North America’s second largest Fringe Festival, and a mid-winter Master Playwright Festival.
