Manitoba Theatre Centre

Founded by John Hirsch and Tom Hendry in 1958, the Manitoba Theatre Centre was Canada’s first English-speaking regional theatre and now presents 10 shows each season at its two theatres - the John Hirsch Theatre at the MTC Mainstage and the Tom Hendry Theatre at the MTC Warehouse.

The John Hirsch Theatre at the MTC Mainstage is the quintessential regional theatre, staging six dazzling productions each season including rousing dramas, hit Broadway musicals and heartwarming comedies. At the Tom Hendry Theatre, four cutting-edge plays rock the intimate, 286-seat house. MTC also produces the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival, North America’s second largest Fringe Festival, and a mid-winter Master Playwright Festival.

Who defines “normal” anyway?

For many families, normal is a relative term, but for Diana and her loved ones, normal is a long way away. Against the backdrop of their own crippling pain, Diana’s daughter and husband try to cope with her mental illness and the toll it takes on the family. In this Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning “feel-everything musical,” Diana’s family decides being next to normal will just have to be enough.
