Founded in 1939 by Gweneth Lloyd and Betty Farrally, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet holds the double distinction of being Canada's premier ballet company and the longest continuously operating ballet company in North America.
The RWB will create an enriching experience of dance for members of the Winnipeg and Manitoba community and others throughout Canada and the world at a cost that is financially sustainable.
Dance will be based on the tradition of ballet and also be able to expand on the same conventions.
Artists will experience challenge both technically and artistically.
New and existing audiences will have an opportunity to appreciate dance and will value dance as an enjoyable aspect of their lives.
Students will be both educated and employed as professional dancers through the functioning of a professional school and educated in dance through a recreational division.
