Our hat collection at the Costume Museum never fails to fascinate visitors. So often, people gazing at hats on display are filled with awe and nostalgia, sometimes commenting, "We just don't wear hats like we used to!"
Museum volunteers, Anna Lenters and Brenda Belmonte would like to turn that trend around by offering a 10-week course in millinery: the dying art of hat making. From February 9th to April13th, 2010, ten novice students will be instructed in this amazing craft, starting with buckram on wooden hat forms and ending with an amazing final product of wearable art.
For only $200, students will receive training in millinery techniques at the Costume Museum every Tuesday night from 7-9pm and will be able to drop in during regular business hours every Saturday to work on their pieces under the guidance of one of their instructors.
To reserve a space, pay by phone at 989.0072 or drop in at the museum during business hours. Space is very limited, so call soon!
