The fourth annual Nuna (now) celebration of Icelandic and Canadian art, and of the ever strengthening span between, brings a variety of culture in just about ever medium to Winnipeg and Manitoba’s Interlake through four weeks in May.
This year’s events kick off with a screening of the claimed Icelandic film Dreamland and shows by electro-pop dance-maniacs FM Belfast. Further treats include a specially commissioned mural by visiting artist Sara Riel; the world premier of a multimedia piece by Svavar Jonatansson, with music by former GusGus front man Daniel August Haraldsson; the North American premier of the startling Humanimal; new work from performance artist Ingibjorg Magnadottir; music from Christine Fellows, Ólöf Arnalds and others; lectures, receptions, parties and more.
Nuna (now) is part of the Canada Iceland Arts Festival Inc. and has been curated by a committee of Manitoba artists and publishers.
