Featuring our own Shayla Fink and Debbie Maslowsky. Performing songs that made this duo internationally acclaimed.
Shayla Fink began her musical career at the age of eight dressed as a chassid performing with her siblings and mother. Since then, music has touched every aspect of her life from being a founding member, lead singer and accordionist of Canada's internationally acclaimed klezmer group Finjan to composing music for children and immigrant students who
are learning English. Shayla has appeared in the movies The Outside Chance of Maxmillian Glick and the Saddest Music In The World. Shayla first heard the Barry Sisters on Noach Witman’s radio show long ago and was thrilled by their exuberance, harmonies and chic fashion sense. Tonight she links her voice to her new sister Debbie Maslowsky to recreate the Bagelman/Barry magic for you.
Debbie Maslowsky dreamed of growing up and becoming a Supreme, A Pointer Sister, or a member of the Partridge Family, as a graduate of the I.L. Peretz Folk School, Debbie always wanted to be a Barry Sister! After realizing that you actually had to be a sister of the Bagelmans to be in the act, Debbie moved on to performing with the Chai Folk Ensemble and later as a professional actor with Rainbow Stage, Winnipeg Jewish Theatre and the Manitoba Theatre Centre. She has also been featured in film and television and has taught and coached musical theatre students. Debbie is proud of her own 'family act' at home with AMC, Sarah and Daisy. She is also grateful to Laurie Mainster for his vision and to her on-stage sis - Shayla - for the great fun and for helping dreams come true!
