Dolce, an Italian word for harmonious, signifys the melodious blend of the figure and music--two themes in Sarah Collard's artwork. Sarah finds herself focused on the victimization of woman, voyeurism and sexual body parts. Dealing with sexual deviance is difficult especially when expulsion remains dependent on one’s willingness to vulnerability which ultimately requires an environment of safety. Home is that safe place to relax, breathe, sleep, live, EAT and enjoy.
Collard is an active public artist who can be viewed on a very popular site that features www.themuralsofwinnipeg.com. A recent large scale exterior mural “Portraits of the Past” was completed in Toronto, Ontario (2008) as part of the Islington Mosaic www.villageofislington.com. She has recently finished a “European Market Square” on 590 St. Mary’s Rd, Winnipeg, Manitoba at Miller’s Super Valu (Meat Market). Collard has established herself as a full time professional artist in Manitoba and has recently moved to Ontario where she is establishing herself as a Toronto based artist.
