Headlined by Caribbean superstars, Beres Hammond, and Inner Circle, the first annual Winnipeg SummerFest is a showcase of the sounds of the summer. Pratik Ruparell, of PDP Entertainment explains, “We want to take what we do at the world famous Reggae SunFest in Jamaica, and bring it to Winnipeg. This year is largely to test the market in the hopes that there will be enough interest to do this every year. We want to take it to the next level in 2011 and do an outdoor, two day festival of feel good music from the Caribbean and the rest of the world.”
Beres Hammond is a legend and brings a soulful potency to his brand of reggae ballads and laid back sound that draws immediate comparisons to mainstream soul and R & B from Motown in the 60’s and 70’s.
Inner Circle are a mainstay in reggae music, and reached mainstream status with hits like the anthem, “Bad Boys” and pop charting, “Sweat (A La La La La Long)”
Joining the headliners are Lenya Wilkes, Culture featuring Kenyatta Hill, and DJ Inferno.
