With a lyrical, engaging playing style and her evocative well-crafted compositions, Janice Finlay has an active, varied musical career. She has performed with the Winnipeg Symphony's Pops concerts, the Jazz Winnipeg Festival, Rainbow Stage, Manitoba Theatre Centre, and the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra. A first-call musician for touring acts, she has performed with jazz legend Clark Terry, 60s crooner Bobby Vinton, country star Kenny Rogers, comedian Bob Newhart, Mowtown groups The Four Tops and The Temptations. Her versatility on the flute, clarinet, and saxophone has afforded her the opportunity to perform as a member of pit orchestras for many musical theatre groups. Janice was the inaugural Jazz Program Co-ordinator at the Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts, where she continues to teach jazz appreciation courses. She is also a member of the University of Manitoba Jazz Camp Faculty. The Hardbop Herd include Rick Boughton on piano, Julian Bradford on bass, Jordan McIntyre on drums, and Dave Lawton on trumpet.
