Featured artists are Steve Kirby, Director of Jazz Studies; Jimmy Greene, Assistant Professor of Jazz Saxophone; and George Colligan, Assistant Professor of Jazz Piano. Kirby is also Artistic Director of the Izzy Asper Jazz Performances, advisor to the COOL Jazz Winnipeg Festival, director of the U of M Jazz Camp, and clinician for Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Band Directors Association. He has recorded with jazz greats Wynton Marsalis, Slide Hampton, and Lester Bowie, to name just a few. Saxophonist Greene has won many awards for his compositions, and has recorded with Harry Connick, Jr. Horace Silver, and Avishai Cohen, among others. Colligan is another award-winning composer with 19 recordings full of his intelligent writing and impressive technique.
