Since the founding of the Scottish rock band Travis in the mid-1990’s, lead singer Fran Healy’s songwriting has been praised by Paul McCartney, Elton John and Noel Gallagher. Since the release of the first Travis recordings in 1997, Healy has written almost all the songs for their six albums.
Healy has talked of being influenced by songwriters such as Joni Mitchell, Paul McCartney and Graham Nash (Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young) and he has since played shows with the latter two musicians. Healy recently branched off from Travis in order to make a solo project and has just released his first solo debut titled Wreckorder. The album features a few high-profile collaborators with alt-country songstress Neko Case and Sir Paul McCartney. This show will be the first time members of Travis play in Winnipeg and will feature Healy sharing stories about his music career while featuring songs written during his time with the band and from his new solo-based catalogue.
