The Suburbs are coming downtown.
Montreal indie-rock darlings the Arcade Fire will play the MTS Centre on Sept. 23 in support of the new album, the Suburbs, according to a post on their official website.
The group last played the city in 2005, supporting their debut album, Funeral, in the cosier confines of the Burton Cummings Theatre, but have grown to become one of the most celebrated bands in the world. Their new album received critical raves and debuted at the top of the Billboard sales charts in the United States and Canada with combined sales of nearly 200,000 copies.
It also landed at No. 1 on the Euro chart, reaching the peak position in the U.K., Portugal and Ireland, No. 2 in Spain and Denmark and No. 3 in France and Switzerland.
