Lighting Design Competition:
During one weekend in September, five events bring music, light, art, dance, wine, food and fun to the north side of Broadway.
Sundown on September 11 & 12
Four lighting designers from across North America have been invited to participate in a lighting design competition to determine which installation will be used to create a permanent lighting display on Broadway in 2011. The focus will be on lighting the elm trees in a manner that produces a wow-factor, while also respecting the delicate nature of the trees.
The lights will be installed on Friday and the competition will run throughout Saturday and Sunday evenings. An official lighting ceremony will take place on Saturday at 9pm. During Saturday evening (4 pm-11 pm), the north side of Broadway will be closed to traffic from Osborne Street to Hargrave Street.
