Eclectic Fuzion

Featuring: Tanis Bannister, Michelle Place, Stan Born, Eric Hetherington & Monika Hansen

Tanis Bannister, creates lead free functional pottery with designs & colours influenced by a love of nature. Creating beautiful pottery that compliments the food served is always a priority. Tanis is currently starting a new series of pottery with Earth tones reflecting seasonal colours. Tanis is always happiest when she turns a lump of clay into a fine functional piece of art!

Michelle Place studied art at the South Western Art Gallery of Manitoba, The Winnipeg Art Gallery, Martha Street Studio, and The Forum Art Institute.  Her recent paintings explore the innocence of children, the stereotypes of being a mother, and the sensuality of nude figures in different atmospheres.

Monika Hansen, a Manitoba artist, lives and works from her rural Manitoba studio. As an oil or watercolour artist, her surrounding landscape’s beauty inspires her passion to paint.  Many of her watercolour paintings are available in art cards.  Currently exploring oil on canvas, she is discovering a new freedom in colour and technique.

Eric Hetherington, a graduate of Red River Collage’s Digital Multimedia Productions course, majored in video.  Eric fell in love with video and motion graphics. Now he is trying to produce his own independent short film series here in Winnipeg. Eric’s life goal is to extend himself into as many aspects of art as possible, his latest foray into writing for scripts has been treacherous, yet exciting.

Stan Born is a self-taught woodworker; his woodworking experiences have led him to build his own lathe and explore various turning techniques. He is inspired by the renowned wood turner Richard Raffan.  He experiments with varied finishes and natural wood edges, and incorporates unusual markings and unique wood characteristics into his pieces.  His wide repertoire includes a variety of common and exotic woods.  The possibilities are endless. Stan shares his knowledge and love of wood turning through teaching classes at Canadian Woodworker.
