Contemporary Israeli jazz Anat Fort, piano, Gary Wang, bass, Roland Schneider, drums. Born in Israel, in a small town just outside of Tel-Aviv, pianist-composer Anat Fort began studying classical music at the age of five, open to all the musical sounds of her Israeli environment. A lifelong fascination with improvisation led her to begin jazz studies in her late teens. In 1999, Anat moved to New York and soon after produced her debut recording, Peel. Over the past decade, Anat has performed at venues worldwide such as the Tel-Aviv Opera House, Birdland, The Blue Note, The Montreal Jazz Festival, and the JVC Jazz Festival, as well as establishing herself as an important presence on the New York City jazz scene. In 2007, her second much anticipated recording, A Long Story was released on ECM Records to great international acclaim. Earlier this year, Anat moved back to Israel, and is now splitting her time between Israel and the United States. For the past ten years, she has been leading her own steady trio with bassist Gary Wang (USA) and drummer Roland Schneider (Germany). The trio recently recorded their first album for ECM at the Rainbow Studio in Oslo, Norway.
