From our earliest childhood memories, Santa Claus has been synonymous with Christmas. But who is this magical elf and what are his origins? Join Yuri Klaz, The Winnipeg Singers and author, historian and world expert on all things Santa, Gerry Bowler, as we tell Old St. Nick's story in word and music. Our featured work, Benjamin Britten's dramatic cantata St. Nicholas, will engage you with legendary incidents in the life of Nicholas, patron saint of children, sailors and travelers. Tenor Kurt Lehmann sings the role of Nicholas, supported by an ensemble of strings, piano, organ, percussion and singers from Pembina Trails Voices. Of course, there will be lighter fare, as Gerry and the Singers explore Santa's secular personas in many different lands. Don't miss this opportunity. Start your Christmas celebrations with us!
